By 1976, the Pioneer Museum had outgrown its small building and moved to the 1904 Carnegie Library building, becoming the Fort Collins Museum. In 1941, the FCM opened in Library Park as the Pioneer Museum. Discovery Science Center (DSC) a hands-on, science museum and the Fort Collins Museum (FCM), a dynamic public history museum.Īlthough the Fort Collins Museum was officially founded in 1975, it actually began in 1939 with the acquisition and restoration of the historic Janis Cabin. The Fort Collins Museum of Discovery is the result of an unprecedented private-public partnership between two legacy museums. We’re proud of what these ten years have meant to FCMoD and the community, and hope you will show your support by donating this Colorado Gives Day to ensure that we can continue to serve our community for the next ten years! Allowed us to work with hundreds of community partners to provide much loved programs such as Noches en Familia, Music Industry Nights, Sonic Spotlight, and more.

Donated thousands of items to our Archive and Collections, which house and display historical pieces ranging from Folsom-era Lindenmeier site stone objects to local historic photographs and newspapers. Removed the barrier of income inequality for over 220,000 visitors through no-cost museum access. Supported 12 special exhibitions, inspiring and informing conversations on topics ranging from mental health to climate change. Helped to maintain our gallery and exhibits, allowing nearly 1 million visitors to explore history, science, and culture in ways that are relevant to our community. Over these past 10 years, support from our donors. While it’s nearly impossible to convey the scope of work we’ve accomplished together in this time, we would like to share some of our favorite highlights. Fast forward 10 years, and WOW have we had fun! The work we do wouldn't be possible without the support of our donors, however, and for that we are truly grateful.
